news flash: situps don't work

according to the poster at my gym, situps actually prevent a flat stomach because they overuse one particular muscle at the detriment of others. apparently, it's better to just do standing stability exercises because that is what your abs are: stabilizing muscles. so a lot of yoga poses that do standing stability, like tree pose or airplane, work pretty well. or simply, just holding your abs in on a regular basis, according to this helpful instruction from the creator of hip hop abs, as he taught on the ellen show

ah. I see the problem. See, this is why I do as much obliques as plain situps. And that butt lift for your lower abs...
