when a journalist is pretty good

when a journalist can report for over 15 years in a war zone, tell both sides of the story and not get themselves killed, that's a good journalist. and probably someone with a real ability to offer bribes in a productive way. i'm thinking of one in particular whose first book i read about 10 years ago, who now does a guest column on a major website and has a new book out. it's just a random thought, so i won't say who. i just thought of that because i'm reading another book, now posthumous, by a journalist who did get themselves killed in a state where control of media is de riguer.
